Has Music Just Gone Downhill?

So I feel like I should preface this by saying that I am a connoisseur of many different music types, including Jazz, Latin, Standards, Folk, Country, R&B, and other related genres. I will be completely honest in saying I feel absolutely no connection to 21st-century music, and likely never will. As I have said before, I am envious of my parent's and grandparents' generations, as they grew up in a time when music was more wholesome, and interesting, and had that "American" sound to it. Personally, my favorite musical decade has been the 1960's.  This was a decade where music underwent such a radical change. The decade started with Doo-Wop, Traditional Pop, Rock n Roll, and other genres carrying over from the 1950's. The middle of the 1960s saw Motown, Folk, Pop Rock, and Soul, and by the decade's end, Classic Rock, Latin American, Bubblegum Pop, and Psychedelic Rock became popular. In the 60's music started to change from being restrained, sophist...

So Now Were Promoting Anti-Whitness In School?

This is an increasing trend that I have been hearing about in the education systems, especially in grades with more impressionable ages such as elementary and middle school. In the public school’s efforts to become more inclusive and diverse as the 21st century progresses, it seems that schools are trading out facts and knowledge for racially biased opinions. Students are being used for an ideological war that is being fought between adults. For example, one school in California recently spent almost 250,000 dollars to bring in a person who would train teachers to “dismantle whiteness” My biggest issue with this is that instead of focusing on things that are important in the education system like preparing students to become leaders of tomorrow's and teaching them the valuable life lessons that one learns in school, we are teaching students how to become future BLM activists, who will grow up hating white persons simply for the color of their skin (sound at all familiar?)...

Has Generation Z Been Ruined By Technology?

One of the most defining characteristics of the decade we're currently living in is the amazing technology at our fingertips. In 2024, we're able to do things that we would have never been able to do 20 years ago such as order our food online, speak to artificial intelligence, and share pictures of each other and a large community space for others viewing pleasure. However, like many other good things, there is always the danger of overuse. Right now, Generation Z and Generation Alpha have a serious problem with social media and technology in general. As someone in that generation, I can attest to how serious of an issue this is, as I was also once addicted to my phone. It's so tempting to want to check your phone every 20 seconds to see what your friend is posting or to comment on someone's story, but over time I've had to learn that this wastes time, and that essentially, social media use should be limited during your day to day life.   Members of Generation X a...

Do We Need Heritage Months?

As this is the first post in February, I feel like I should address the topic of "heritage/celebration months". When you think of the 12 months of the year you may think of the different seasons, or the holidays associated with each month. However, in the 2020's we associate the different months with groups of various marginalized groups that are designated a specific month for their heritage and history to be celebrated. Now, you might think that I have an issue with this, and I do, but not for the reasons that you would think.  After doing some internet research, I discovered that there is an entire calendar of history/heritage months, so I am going to do my best to break each month down, so you have an idea of who you are going to be celebrating each month.  February: Black History Month March: Women's History Month, Irish American Heritage Month, Greek American Heritage Month April: Arab American Heritage Month May: Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage...
