Are Musicians Politicians Now?

For decades, music artists have been an integral part of American culture; they have influenced countless cultural movements, trends, and fashions. But I have never heard of a music artist influencing an election. One artist in particular is using her popularity among the masses to endorse a candidate for the upcoming 2024 election. Unsurprisingly, the artist in question is none other than Taylor Swift. Swift is considered one of the most influential artists in the 21st century, outranking the likes of musicians such as Celine Dion and Beyonce in both sales and overall popularity.

While this is an impressive feat, and her music is powerful and emotional (albeit too feminist for my taste), I do not believe, however, that she is qualified to delve into the world of politics, as this tends to divide fans and distract from the opinions of actual politicians. It has been reported that the singer-songwriter has unsurprisingly endorsed the incumbent president, Joe Biden. This should surprise absolutely no one, as her fan base is going to be the primary demographic that the Biden campaign tends to attract: white, millennial, liberal, and female. With the endorsement of a national celebrity like Taylor Swift, the Biden administration may have another attempt at the White House, a thought that should strike fear into the heart of any rational-thinking person.

However, I will say that in Swift's defense, she cannot be blamed if a person is stupid enough to gather their political viewpoints and affiliations from a music artist. If this is you, I would instead advise you to read about the candidates and make an informed decision about who to vote for this November.
